 | Introduction to Rock Climbing Experience rock climbing in a fun and safe environment. On day one develop your movement skills on rock, belaying, rappelling and simple anchor building. On day two we take it to the next level with the building of complex anchors, using removable protection and advanced movement skills. On completion of this course you?ll feel comfortable going top-roped climbing on your own.  | Learn to Lead on Rock When you have done enough top roped climbing that you feel ready to start lead climbing there is no better way to get into leading safely than to learn correct techniques from the start. Our two day learn to lead course covers everything you need to know to lead safe pitches from placement of protection and planning your ascents to station management and even some self rescue techniques. Even if you have started lead climbing already, instruction from qualified guides will get you leading in a consistent, safe and confidence inspiring manner. Price: $360 per person (3:1 max ratio) Included in the price: Instructor, use of rock shoes, harness, helmet and group technical gear. Not included: Transportation, food, accommodation and personal clothing and equipment (list supplied on booking). | | Rock Rescue CoursesImagine yourself belaying a partner on a climb when a mishap befalls them and they are hanging on the other end of the rope, unable to do anything. If you do any multi pitch climbing, whether as a leader or a follower, in reality you could find yourself in this situation. If having the skills to manage these situations is of interest to you then our two day rock rescue course is exactly what you need. On day one we cover all the basics of improvised self rescue from rescue anchors and station management to blocking and escaping belays and setting up raising and lowering systems. On the second day we deal with more complicated scenarios with multiple lowers, rappels with victims, passing knots, rope ascending and other techniques used in multi pitch rescue.  | Complete Mountaineering skills courseOn this five day course you will learn all of the basics of mountaineering from movement on snow, rock and ice to anchoring and belaying in all these mediums, glacier travel, route finding and much more. The first segment of this course cover all the basics on rock (see description of introduction to rock climbing above) followed by alpine skills training. Price: $675 per person (five day mountain portion only) Included in the price: Instructor, use of rock shoes, harness, helmet, ice axe, crampons and group technical gear. | Mountaineering skills course, Fly-in access.This course is identical to the Mountaineering skills course above, but with a helicopter to whisk you straight into the "alpine classroom". Students who have taken the Island Alpine Guides intro rock course or equivalent may sign up for only the three day fly-in mountain portion of the course. Price: $705 per person. (Three day mountain portions only)
Included in the price: Instructor, return helicopter flights, use of rock shoes, harness, helmet, ice axe, crampons and group technical gear. Not included: Transportation to and from starting point, food, tents and personal clothing and equipment (list supplied on booking).   | Three Day Long Week-end Alpine Skills. This shorter version of our mountain skills training takes advantage of quick access into alpine terrain to give an action packed three day course. On the first day hike in, make camp and head straight for the snow to start training in snow climbing, anchors, belaying etc.. The second day is a full day of training in climbing and glacier travel. Day three sees us putting it all together using the skills we have learned to climb to the summit. Descend to break camp and walk out after the climb. Intro Rock recommended but not essential. Price: $405 per person. Included in the price: Instructor, use of rock shoes, harness, helmet, ice axe, crampons and group technical gear. Not included: Transportation, food, tents and personal clothing and equipment (list supplied on booking). Transport, food and tenting logistics will be organised between participants and IAG. | Two Day Week-end Alpine Skills Training. This two day version of our mountain skills training is designed for those of you looking for a quick week-end alpine experience. On the first day we hike in, make camp and head straight for the snow to start training in snow climbing, anchors, belaying etc.. The second day is a full day of training in climbing and glacier travel. In the afternoon we head back to camp to pack and head home. Price: $270 per person. Included in the price: Instructor, use of rock shoes, harness, helmet, ice axe, crampons and group technical gear. Not included: Transportation, food, tents and personal clothing and equipment (list supplied on booking). Transport, food and tenting logistics will be organised between participants and IAG.
