Join us for a day hike into the alpine at Mt. Arrowsmith where we will learn about the beautiful alpine plants and their medicinal properties. Hike uphill through old growth forest into the alpine. Once we reach the alpine we will frequently stop to look at, photograph and discuss the plants, the stories and legends that are intertwined with their history, and their medicinal properties. You will also learn how to safely use, harvest and prepare the plants at home. The going is steep and strenuous but the rewards are great with superlative views of the Coastal Mountains, the peaks of Strathcona Park and the ocean on both sides of the island from the Alberni Inlet to the Salish Sea. An enjoyable hike in the mountains where you will gain a new appreciation for the medicines at our feet.
