Mount Washington offers some fine powder stashes on the shady aspects outside the ski area boundaries. If you've thought about heading out but lacked the skills and experience to cross into the uncontrolled backcountry, join one of our guides as they let you in on the secrets of the Mount Washington backcountry in a fun and safe way.

Tours can be done with your regular alpine skis or a snowboard using the lifts and vehicle shuttles to get back up for another run. If you're interested in doing a little uphill touring as well, we can incorporate touring skis or inserts on your alpine skis, plus skins and optional lift access for a more traditional touring day. The guide will design the trip to work with the gear you've got. (If you don't own your own touring gear and would like to try it out, Ski Tak Hut offers 25% off rentals for all Island Alpine Guides customers while on one of our trips.). You should be at minimum a strong intermediate level skier to sign up on a posted trip. If your skiing ability is less than this please get in touch with us so that we can create a compatible group for you.

All Island Alpine Guides courses and trips take place in an outdoor, wilderness environment. To participate in these activities you will be required to read and agree to our waiver as part of the registration process. You will also be required to sign the waiver at the start of the course or trip. In doing so you will waive or give up certain legal rights including the right to sue or to claim compensation following an accident.
